How to Get started with Google+ Events?
Google+ Events makes it easy to schedule events and keeping track of attendees, photos and RSVP’s etc. all in one place – Google+, the social network Google has been integrating into almost all web services.
How to get started with Google+ Events?
In this tutorial, we will see how to use Google+ events and keep track of everything associated with that event – guest, photos, location and discussion etc. all in one place.
Create Event
To create an event in Google+, go to your Google+ Page and click on Events on the left side menu. This is also the place all your Google+ Events be listed. Click on “Create Event” button on the upper right hand on the Events page.
On the “Create Event” window, enter required details for the event such as a title, date, time and location. You may also give it a personal touch by changing the theme – select from the cool stock images or upload your own.
Notice that when you start adding location, Google tries to find the match from Google Maps to make it easier for the attendees to find directions.
When everything is set, add people from your contacts/circles to invite to the event. Hit Invite.
It will create an event that you can further customize on the nicely formatted event page similar to the one in the image.
RSVP and Attend Event
If you are among the ones invited, you will see the event entry on your profile feed where you could RSVP and add number of guest you will be bringing. You should also receive an email with event details.
One nice touch in Google Events is its integration with Google Calendar. When you hover your mouse on “Are you going?”, it will give you the option to check your availability.
At this point you can invite other people and/or bring guests with you, if the host has allowed that.
Party Mode
Party mode is one of the coolest features of Google+ Events. It is also one of the main features which differentiate Google+ Events from eVite and Punchbowl kind of services.
Party mode lets you share pictures and videos taken during an event instantly share with everyone at the event. With Google+ Android app, you can turn on the Party mode when the event starts. While in Party mode, any photo or video you take will be shared with everyone.
(Be cautious while using Party model as to not share the photos you don’t want to.)
With Party mode ON, all photos taken from anyone’s camera during the event will be available on the event page so that they are not scattered across different places on the web or in emails.
NEW FEATURE:
Now everyone who was invited/attended the event can download all the photos from that event. All you need to do is, go to the event page and select “Download Event Photos” from the Actions menu on the upper right hand.
Once the event is over, invitees can continue to add more photos. Those who don’t use Google+ will get an email asking them to add their photos as well or they can send their photos to the host as well.
In my experience whether it is my kid’s birthday party or a social gathering, it’s been a breeze using Google+ events and keeping track of all things associated with the event in one place.
If you haven’t use Google+ Events so far, I would highly recommend you to give it a try. You will forget eVite and other event management services.
